Xyris ambigua Beyrich ex Kunth. Coastal Plain Yellow-eyed-grass. Phen: May-Aug. Hab: Wet pine savannas and flatwoods, pinelands, edges of depression ponds. Dist: Se. VA south to s. FL, west to AL and ec. TX, primarily on the Coastal Plain; also West Indies (Cuba), and Mexico south into Central America.
ID notes: The leaf bases of this species are typically mucilaginous (slimy).
