Xyris bracteicaulis E.P. Bicknell ex L.M. Campbell. Common name: Bracted Yellow-eyed Grass. Habitat: Coastal Plain pond-shore. Distribution: Apparently endemic to Long Island, NY (where extirpated).

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: See Campbell (2011) for detailed information. The taxonomic validity of this species needs additional evaluation; it may represent a teratologic variant of another Xyris species; however, it is has not been collected nor seen in the wild since 1908.
