Xyris chapmanii E.L. Bridges & Orzell. Chapman's Yellow-eyed-grass. Phen: Aug-Sep; Sep-Oct. Hab: Sandhill seepage bogs in areas of copious lateral seepage in deep muck soils, beaver pond margins. Dist: With a disjunct distribution in the Southeastern Coastal Plain: s. NJ (Moyer & Bridges 2015); sc. NC south to c. SC (in the fall-line Sandhills) (Sorrie, Van Eerden, & Russo 1997); wc. GA; Panhandle FL west through s. AL to s. MS; e. TX.

ID notes: This taxon is abundantly distinct from X. scabrifolia by its essentially glabrous leaves and lack of outer scale leaves and bulbous bases.
