Stems: Stem flexible, with obscure ribbing below, but flattened and 2-winged above.
Leaves: Thick, lustrous, linear leaves up to 20 in. long and overlapping at base, where they are tan to pinkish.
Inforescence: Flowers in short, oval to rounded, cone-like spike at top of stem, each bud concealed in a single light brown (green center), scale-like bract.
Flowers: 1 or 2 bright-yellow, 3-petaled flowers open at a time, usually in early morning, withering by afternoon.
