Euphorbia Linnaeus. Spurge.
Contributed by Alan S. Weakley and Scott G. Ward
A genus of over 2000 species, herbs, shrubs, and trees, nearly cosmopolitan in distribution. Infrageneric classification follows Yang et al. (2012), Dorsey et al. (2013), Riina et al. (2013), and Horn et al. (2012). It is debatable whether the very broad circumscription of Euphorbia used here (and following nearly all recent experts) is really the most serviceable.
