*Abelmoschus Medikus. Common name: Okra, Gumbo.
A genus of about 15 species, herbs, of the Old World tropics. Perhaps better included in a broadly circumscribed Hibiscus (Pfeil & Crisp 2005), but Hanes et al. (2024) and Barrett, Hanes, & McLay (2023) preferred retention of Abelmoschus (and other Hibiscus relatives) at genus rank.
