Parogonum (Haraldson) Desjardins & J.P. Bailey. Subfamily: Polygonoideae. Tribe: Polygoneae. Subtribe: Reynoutriinae.
A genus of 2 species (and 3 taxa), herbs, disjunctly in e. North America and e. Asia. The two species of Parogonum have usually been considered to be congeneric with the species of Fallopia; Desjardins et al. (2023) found that Parogonum is sister to Fallopia + Muehlenbeckia, and elevated section Parogonum Haraldson to genus rank to maintain a taxonomy of monophyletic genera.
