A genus of about 37 (or more) species, perennial herbs, of North America. Sections and subsections recognized follow Folk & Freudenstein (2014).
ID notes: Vegetatively, Heuchera resembles Tiarella and Mitella. Heuchera usually has leaves as wide as long and with prominent variegation, while Tiarella and Mitella usually have leaves longer than wide and lacking variegation (except in cultivated forms of Tiarella).
