Geocarpon carolinianum (Walter) E.E. Schilling. Common name: Carolina Sandwort, Longroot. Phenology: Apr-Jul. Habitat: Deep white sands of barren longleaf pine sandhills, sand barrens, other dry sandy habitats, as in the NJ Pine Barrens. Distribution: NY (Long Island) and formerly RI, to Panhandle FL, on the Coastal Plain.
