Gaillardia aestivalis (Walter) H. Rock var. aestivalis. Common name: Sandhill Gaillardia, Prairie Gaillardia. Phenology: Jul-Oct. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills (especially in flats or dips with loamy soils), prairies, adjacent disturbed areas. Distribution: Sc. NC south to c. peninsular FL, west to KS and e. and se. TX.
