Gentiana andrewsii Grisebach var. andrewsii. Common name: Prairie Closed Gentian. Phenology: Late Jul-early Nov. Habitat: Meadows, seeps, forest edges, freshwater marshes, open-canopied swamps. Distribution: NH, s. QC, MN, and s. MB, south to s. MD, WV, MO and WY; earlier reports of it as far south as GA or NC (as by F and G) are apparently based on misidentifications.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: An additional variety, var. dakotica A. Nelson, occurs from MB and SK south in the Great Plains to MO and IL.
