Sarracenia rubra Walter ssp. rubra. Common name: Carolina Sweet Pitcherplant, Carolina Redflower Pitcherplant. Phenology: Apr-May; Jun-Jul. Habitat: Sandhill seepage bogs, pocosins, wet savannas. Distribution: Se. and sc. NC south to e. GA (southeast of the Fall-line Sandhills).
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: The S. rubra complex consists of as many as six (as here treated) geographically isolated entities, variously treated as species, subspecies, or geographic races (see S. jonesii for some of the pertinent references).
