Stems: Stems simple or branched, somewhat fleshy, smooth.

Leaves: Leaves opposite, sessile or short-petiolate, spatula-shaped to oblong with bluntly rounded tip, to 3/4 in. long; may be irregularly toothed.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in leafy-bracted, loose, terminal racemes; white (sometimes pink-tinged); less than 1/4 in. wide; bilaterally symmetric; consisting of a tiny corolla tube opening to 4 slightly unequal, oval lobes. 4 green sepals are visible between corolla lobes. Flowers wilt quickly.

Fruits: Fruit a tiny, heart-shaped capsule.
