Cercis canadensis Linnaeus var. texensis (S. Watson) M. Hopkins. Common name: Texas Redbud. Phenology: (Jan-) Mar-Apr. Habitat: Rocky limestone areas (especially on the Edwards Plateau), but also in calcareous ravines in the Coastal Plain. Distribution: E. and c. OK and TX, south into Mexico along the Sierra Madre Oriental; sometimes cultivated elsewhere, and beginning to escape, as in c. NC.
