Hydrangeaceae Dumortier. Hydrangea Family.
A family of about 17 genera and 190-220 species, trees, shrubs, vines, and herbs, primarily north temperate. As here interpreted, the family Hydrangeaceae includes two well-marked groups, the Hydrangeae (including Hydrangea s.l.) and the Philadelpheae (including Deutzia and Philadelphus). The traditional recognition of genera in the Hydrangeeae (such as Decumaria as separate from Hydrangea) is problematic, as shown by Yang et al. (2023a) and others.
