Taxonomy Comments: Alvaradoa psilophylla (of Cuba, the Bahamas, and s. Florida) has consistent morphological differences from Alvaradoa amorphoides (of Mexico, Central America, and n. South America), also differs ecologically by its preference for limestone, and has an allopatric distribution; there seems no reason not to accord it species rank.
