not marked as a favorite taxon Avicennia germinans (Linnaeus) Linnaeus. Common name: Black Mangrove, Mangle Blanco. Phenology: (Jan-) Jul-Aug (-Dec). Habitat: Brackish and salt marshes and swamps, in tidal flats and lagoons. Distribution: Scattered on the Gulf Coast in FL peninsula (Dixie county southward on the west coast, St. Johns County southward on the east coast), Panhandle FL (Franklin and Taylor counties), s. MS, s. AL, s. LA, and se. TX, southward into the West Indies and Tropical America; tropical Africa.
