not marked as a favorite taxon *Xanthosoma sagittifolium (Linnaeus) Schott. Common name: Arrowleaf Elephant-ear. Phenology: Oct. Habitat: Ditches. Distribution: Native of tropical America.

Origin/Endemic status: Neotropics

Other Comments: It can be seen in ditches adjacent to ornamental plantings; it is uncertain whether it can be considered naturalized in the more northern parts of our area. It is superficially similar to Colocasia, differing in its non-peltate leaves.
