Leaves: Leaves alternate, petiolate, oval to diamond-shaped with rounded to pointed tips, 2-3 in. long, smooth.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers clustered along slender, usually branching terminal and upper axillary spikes that are often interrupted; green tinged with red, less than 1/4 in. long and consisting of 3 tiny tepals; male and female flowers separate.
Fruits: Fruit a faintly wrinkled, oval capsule partly enclosed in the persistent tepals.
