Ammannia latifolia Linnaeus. Common name: Pink Redstem. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Brackish to fresh tidal marshes, wet places, ditches. Distribution: NJ south to s. FL and west to TX (mostly on the Coastal Plain), and also in the West Indies, Yucatan, Central America, and South America.

Taxonomy Comments: All plants in North America north of Florida have flowers with petals; most plants from FL south through the West Indies into Central and South America have flowers without petals. Graham (1985) considered these forms; additional study is warranted. The name A. koehnei Britton is available for the petaliferous North American plant should its recognition prove warranted.
