Amphicarpum muehlenbergianum (J.A. Schultes) A.S. Hitchcock. Common name: Florida Peanut-grass, Blue Maiden-cane. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Natural depression ponds, flatwoods ponds, pondcypress savannas in clay-based Carolina bays. Distribution: S. FL and s. AL north to se. NC, rare north of s. GA. First found in NC in the late 1980s by M. Boyer.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: The spelling of the epithet has been disputed. The original spelling of the basionym by J.A. Schultes is Milium mühlenbergianum and the 'ü' is altered to 'ue' under the Shenzhen Code; Muhlenberg variably used a spelling with or without an umlaut and there is no basis in the Code for "correction" of the epithet to 'muhlenbergianum'.
