*Apium graveolens Linnaeus. Celery. Phen: Jun-Jul; Jul-Aug. Hab: Disturbed areas, escaped or persisting from cultivation. Dist: Native of Europe.

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Taxonomy Comments: Escapes in our area appear to be a reverted wild form, sometimes treated as A. graveolens var. graveolens. This species occurs in forms or cultivars, which have sometimes been treated as botanical varieties: A. graveolens var. dulce (P. Miller) A.P. de Candolle (Celery), A. graveolens var. rapaceum A.P. de Candolle (Celeriac), and others.

Synonymy : = C, F, Fl7, G, MC, Meso4.1, Mo2, NE, RAB, Tx, WH3, WV, Ronse et al (2010); = Celeri graveolens (L.) Britton – S; = n/a – Pa, Tat; > Apium graveolens L. ssp. dulce (Mill.) Bertol.; > Apium graveolens L. var. dulce (Mill.) DC. – K1, K3, K4
