*Arundo donax Linnaeus. Common name: Giant Reed. Phenology: Sep-Aug. Habitat: Roadsides, waste dumps, other disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of the Old World (most likely w. Asia) (Hardion et al. 2014).

Taxonomy Comments: Horticultural forms with leaves transversely striped white and green have been treated as var. versicolor, but are better considered as only a form or cultivar.
