not marked as a favorite taxon Encyclia tampensis (Lindley) Small. Common name: Florida Butterfly Orchid. Phenology: May-Sep (-Apr). Habitat: Epiphytic on a wide variety of trees, and in a wide variety of hammocks, pine flatwoods, sloughs, strands, swamps, and other mesic to wet habitats. Often abundant on the limbs of Quercus virginiana with Pleopeltis. Distribution: N. FL peninsula (Levy, Putnam, and Flagler counties) south to s. FL; slightly disjunct on n. end of Cumberland Island, GA; Bahamas.
