not marked as a favorite taxon Euphorbia hypericifolia Linnaeus. Common name: Graceful Sandmat. Habitat: Gardens, landscaped beds, cracks in parking lot and sidewalk pavements, other disturbed upland areas. Distribution: FL west to TX, south into Mexico, Central America, South America; West Indies. Reported for SC (Kartesz 1999), FL, GA, LA (Q). The boundary between native and adventive distribution is uncertain.

Subgenus: Chamaesyce. Section: Anisophyllum.

ID notes: Euphorbia hypericifolia bears some resemblance to the ubiquitous E. nutans and could easily be overlooked by many botanists for that reason. It differs in having cyathia in large, capitate glomerules with reduced bract-like leaves subtending them (vs. cyathia solitary at distal nodes or in small cymose clusters at branch tips in E. nutans).
