Juncus paludosus E.L. Bridges & Orzell. Subgenus: Juncus. Section: Ozophyllum. Swamp Rush. Phen: Apr-May; May-Jul. Hab: Hardwood swamps, cypress swamps and stringers with seasonally flowing water, adjacent ditches. Dist: SC south to s. FL, west to LA.

ID notes: Among all Juncus in the region, only J. polycephalos and J. validus can be confused with J. paludosus. The combination of complete leaf septae and capsules being united at the apex at maturity easily distinguish this robust taxon.
