*Loropetalum chinense (R. Brown) Oliver. Common name: Loropetalum. Habitat: Disturbed urban and suburban areas, spreading at least locally around plantings in suburban and urban areas, both by seed and by root sprouts. Distribution: Native of e. Asia.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Taxonomy Comments: Var. rubrum seems to be merely a form; root sprouts revert from pink to white petal color and coppery to green leaf color.
