Ludwigia octovalvis (Jacquin) Raven. Section: Macrocarpon. Common name: Mexican Primose-willow. Phenology: May-Sep. Habitat: Marshes, disturbed areas. Distribution: Se. NC south to s. FL, west to TX; and widespread in tropical America; Old World tropics and subtropics. The native and non-native components of the distribution are unclear, but Mohr (1901) referred to Jussiaea suffruticosa as "occurring near ballast heaps; presumably a fugitive from the tropics".
