Lythrum flagellare Shuttleworth ex Chapman. Common name: Florida Loosestrife. Phenology: Feb-Jun. Habitat: Wet Florida prairies, floodplain marshes, moist roadsides and ditches. Distribution: C. and peninsular FL. Primarily occurring in west-central and southwest peninsular FL, from Hillsborough south to Collier county.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: This species has a limited range, with populations often relegated to disturbed, wet roadside habitats in c. and w. peninsular FL. These disturbed habitats are often subject to mowing and other mechanical disturbances, and yet, plants often seem to persist well enough, perhaps due to the nature of this species' growth form.
