Melochia pyramidata Linnaeus var. pyramidata. Common name: Pyramid-flower, Anglepod Melochia, Smooth Melochia. Phenology: Apr-Nov. Habitat: Disturbed areas. Distribution: S. FL; West Indies; LA and TX south through Mexico and Central America to South America.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: A second variety, var. hieronymi Schumann, hairier and with more flowers per umbel, is apparently restricted to South America.
