*Odontonema cuspidatum (Nees) Kuntze. Common name: Firespike. Phenology: May-Sep. Habitat: Disturbed hammocks and other uplands. Distribution: Native of tropical America. Reported for s. AL (Mobile County) by Barger et al. (2019).

Origin/Endemic status: Neotropics

Synonymy : = Fl6, K4, NS, POWO, WH3, Wasshausen (1998); = n/a — SFla; Thyrsacanthus cuspidatus Nees. Basionym: Thyrsacanthus cuspidatus Nees 1847
