Oenothera curtiflora W.L. Wagner & Hoch. Common name: Small-flowered Gaura, Velvety Gaura, Lizardtail Gaura. Phenology: (Feb-) Apr-Oct. Habitat: Sandy fields, disturbed areas, and clearings. Distribution: IN and IL west to WA, south to MS, and Mexico (PUE); apparently introduced eastward to MA, TN, GA, and SC (the exact eastern edge of the native distribution uncertain).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Kartesz's (1999) adoption of Gaura mollis as the name for this taxon has been rejected (Wagner & Hoch 2000; Brummitt 2001).
