not marked as a favorite taxon Quercus incana Bartram. Common name: Bluejack Oak, Sandjack. Phenology: Apr; Sep-Nov (of the second year). Habitat: Sandhills, primarily in somewhat loamier textured, submesic soils, inland from the Coastal Plain on coarse sandy alluvium or upland ridges over quartzite or other acidic rocks. Distribution: Primarily a species of the Southeastern Coastal Plain, but rarely extending inland into the Piedmont (especially on coarse sandy alluvium): se. VA south to c. peninsular FL and west to c. TX, sw. AR, and se. OK.
