Horticultural Information
Intro: Erect perennial of pine savannas and bogs.
Stems: Stems vaguely 4-angled, branched above only.
Leaves: Leaves opposite, linear, 1-4 in. long; elliptic to spoon-shaped basal leaves often present too.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers 1-5 in a compact terminal cluster; pink; about 1 1/4 in. wide; consisting of usually 10 oblong-lance-shaped petals with oblique tips and yellow at the base (making a yellow ring in the flower center), 10 linear to lance-shaped sepals, and prominent yellow anthers and pistil.
Fruits: Fruit an ellipsoid to ovoid capsule.
