Solanum bahamense Linnaeus. Common name: Bahama Nightshade, Cankerberry. Phenology: Jan-Dec. Habitat: Hammocks, dunes. Distribution: S. FL; West Indies.
ID notes: Solanum bahamense is a shrub or small tree (to 4 m tall), with straight, yellow to orange prickles. "It is unique among the North American spiny solanums in having stellate hairs on the inner (adaxial) surface of the anthers" (Bohs 2023).
