Spiranthes praecox (Walter) S. Watson. Common name: Grass-leaved Ladies'-tresses, Giant Ladies'-tresses. Phenology: Mar-May (-Jun). Habitat: Pine savannas, swamps, bogs. Distribution: A Southeastern Coastal Plain endemic: New York (Long Island, ?), New Jersey (?), Delaware (?), Maryland (?), south to s. Florida and west to Texas. The more northern occurrences have been questioned as to identification.

ID notes: Plants in c. and s. FL often lack green veins on the lip.
