Sporobolus indicus (Linnaeus) R. Brown. Common name: Smut Grass, Blackseed. Phenology: (Jan-) Jul-Oct (-Dec). Habitat: Low prairies and swales, roadsides, lawns, disturbed situations. Distribution: Pantropical and subtropical, its original distribution apparently in the New World tropics, but obscured by its weedy capabilities and sometimes considered introduced in whole or in part in our area.
