Trichocentrum carthagenense (Jacquin) M.W. Chase & N.H. Williams. Common name: Spread-eagle Orchid. Phenology: Apr-Sep. Habitat: Epiphytic in mangroves. Distribution: S. FL; West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and n. South America. Not seen in FL since collected by J.K. Small south of Coot's Bay Hammock on 1 April 1916. Sometimes also considered a false report, based on confusion over the provenance of the plant from which the specimen was made (see FNA).
