*Vanilla planifolia G. Jackson. Common name: Vanilla, Commercial Vanilla. Phenology: Apr. Habitat: Tropical hardwood hammocks, cypress swamps. Distribution: Native of West Indies, Mexico, Central America, and South America. Possibly a pre-Columbian introduction.

Origin/Endemic status: Neotropics

Synonymy : = FNA26, K4, NS, POWO, S13, WH3, WI, Luer (1972); ? Vanilla vanilla (L.) H.Karst. — S, misapplied. Basionym: Vanilla planifolia Jacks. 1808
