Bletia purpurea (Lamarck) A.P. de Candolle. Pine-pink, Purple Bletia. Phen: Dec-May (-Nov). Hab: Pine rocklands, wet pine flatwoods, wet Florida prairies, depression marshes, dome swamps, strand swamps, disturbed uplands. Dist: Peninsular FL; West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and n. South America.

ID notes: This is the only species of Bletia growing north of Miami-Dade county in FL. Bletia patula is only known from perhaps two populations in Everglades National Park and Bletia florida has only been anecdotally reported as a very infrequent garden escape near Homestead.
