Cyclopogon elatus (Swartz) Schlechter. Tall Ladies’-tresses, Tall Neottia. Phen: Feb-Mar. Hab: Terrestrial in rockland hammocks and on floating logs and buttresses in strand swamps. Dist: C. and s. FL; West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and n. South America. Much time had elapsed in which this species was not seen in FL until being rediscovered as extant in Collier County in 2009 by George Wilder. It remains extremely rare and endangered in Collier County and is possibly historical in Miami-Dade and Hernando counties.
