Evolvulus alsinoides (Linnaeus) Linnaeus. Common name: Slender Dwarf Morning-glory. Phenology: Feb-Dec. Habitat: Coastal hammocks, coastal rock barrens, disturbed areas in shelly coastal areas. Distribution: S. FL, s. AL (Dauphin Island), TX, NM, and AZ south into the Neotropics; West Indies; also widely and early introduced throughout the Paleotropics (Austin 2008).
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: The species is sometimes divided into numerous varieties (as by Ooststroom 1934), but these have generally been regarded as too confluent for recognition (see synonymy). If recognized, s. FL material is var. grisebachianus, with a West Indian distribution.
