Habenaria floribunda Lindley. Mignonette Orchid. Phen: Sep-Feb. Hab: Rich, moist hardwood hammocks, mesic to wet pine flatwoods, dome swamps and floodplain forests. Dist: Ne. FL south to s. FL; West Indies; Mexico, Central America, South America
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Batista et al. (2011) suggested the possibility that H. floribunda (with type from Peru) and H. odontopetala (with type from Mexico) are not conspecific and suggested additional study, but do not distinguish them; pending further study and a more definitive means of separating them, it seems best to combine them, and H. floribunda has priority.
