Juncus marginatus Rostkovius. Subgenus: Juncus. Section: Graminifolii. Grass-leaved Rush. Phen: Jun-Sep. Hab: Wet meadows, bogs, generally throughout in wet, sandy or peaty soil. Dist: NS to ON, MI, and NE, south to s. peninsular FL and TX; disjunct in CA and in South America.

ID notes: Among section Graminifolii, which is recognizable by the flat leaves lacking septae and rounded capsules in heads (glomerules), J. marginatus is more delicate in nature than either J. biflorus or J. longii. When growing in a cespitose fashion the rhizomes are short or absent. Individuals can be solitary with a rhizome present.
