Malaxis spicata Swartz. Florida Adder's-mouth. Phen: Jul-Oct. Hab: Maritime swamp forests, calcareous but mucky swamps in the outer Coastal Plain, spring-fed swamps, wet hammocks. Dist: Se. VA south to FL; n. West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica).

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy : = Bah, C, FNA26, G, GW1, K1, K3, K4, RAB, S, Va, WH3, WI, Correll (1950), Luer (1975); = Microstylis spicata Chapm.; > Malaxis floridana (Chapm.) Kuntze – F, S13; > Microstylis floridana Chapm.
