Nymphoides humboldtiana (Kunth) Kuntze. Habitat: Lakes, ponds, and other sluggish water. Distribution: FL; West Indies; Mexico (CHP, VER), Central America, and South America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: A tetraploid species (2n=36) (Tippery et al. 2018). See Middleton et al. (2018) for detailed discussion of the occurrence of this species in our flora area and its taxonomic relationship and difficulty of determination from N. indica. Its seeds lack tubercles; however, which readily distinguishes it from N. indica.

Synonymy : = Fl7, K4, Mex, Middleton et al (2018), Tippery et al (2018); < Nymphoides indica (L.) Kuntze — Meso4.1, Mex, WH3, WI, Ornduff (1969); Villarsia humboldtiana Kunth. Basionym: Villarsia humboldtiana Kunth 1818
