Orthochilus ecristatus (Fernald) Bytebier. Common name: Spiked Medusa, Smooth-lipped Eulophia. Phenology: Jun-Sep; Jul-Nov. Habitat: Mesic pinelands with blackjack oak, other longleaf pine sandhills and dry-mesic to mesic longleaf pinelands, also (southwards) in spodosol wet-mesic pine flatwoods, dry-prairies, and disturbed wet pastures. Distribution: Se. NC south to FL, west to LA; West Indies (Cuba).
