Stems: Stems branching near top of plant, sometimes tinged with red, covered with white spreading hairs.
Leaves: Leaves alternate; sessile to petiolate; palmately divided into 5-9 narrowly lance-shaped leaflets (upper leaves smaller and with 3-5 leaflets), these 1 1/4-3 1/2 in. long, coarsely toothed, and hairy.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers in flat-topped clusters; pale yellow; about 3/4 in. wide; consisting of 5 heart-shaped petals, 5 shorter, hairy, pointed sepals, and numerous yellow stamens with yellowish-brown tips circling the yellow center.
Fruits: Fruit a dense aggregate of tiny, dark-brown achenes.
