*Rosa laevigata Michaux. Common name: Cherokee Rose. Phenology: Late Mar-Jun; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Roadsides, moist forests. Distribution: Native of China. Apparently introduced into the se. United States very early, where encountered by André Michaux in the 1790s and named by him as an apparent native species.
