*Rosa laevigata Michaux. Common name: Cherokee Rose. Phenology: Late Mar-Jun; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Roadsides, moist forests. Distribution: Native of China. Apparently introduced into the se. United States very early, where encountered by André Michaux in the 1790s and named by him as an apparent native species.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy : = Ar, FNA9, K4, NcTx, RAB, S, Tx, WH3, Robertson (1974); = Rosa cherokeensis Donn ex Small — S13. Basionym: Rosa laevigata Michx. 1803
