*Saccharum officinarum Linnaeus. Sugarcane. Phen: Nov-Feb. Hab: Cultivated in s. peninsular FL and along the Gulf Coast, mainly in LA, and sparingly persistent. Dist: Native of se. Asia. Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum Linnaeus, S. sinense Roxburgh, S. barberi Jeswiet, S. spontaneum Linnaeus, and cultivars and hybrids derived from those four species) is cultivated along the Gulf Coast, notably in FL and LA.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
